ROTF Optimus Prime - Voyager Class

This, is one of the first ROTF figure available in the market, about a quarter ago, along with Demolishor and perhaps Starscream, but it is until now that I decided to buy it.

This is the Voyager Class of Autobot leader Optimus Prime!!! It is basically the same mould as the previous movie toy of the same class. The difference is slight, a new paint job, some coloring, especially the disappearing driver who will "disappears" whenever the driver side door is opened, addition of a more prominent Autobots logo and some Chinese characters.

Design wise it is very movie accurate for the truck mode. The choice of color is rather of the more subtle shade, unlike the striking color in the Michael Bay's movie. Things that work in a movie may not work in real life, or even for toys, OK.

With a few simple twist and turn (literally) it can enter into Battle of Attack mode, where the smokestacks will become the cannons and they can even launch missiles.

Here are the Chinese characters found on the bonnet and roof respectively. The first read Shanghai General and the latter Big General (literal translation, that is). I think this is probably why I choose this design over the original design and the one with G1 coloring.

Now here's the robot mode, from the front very handsome Optimus Prime. We can see the toy makers actually put more effort in the most famous character and made him look good enough. Bummer is, the nose of the truck become a backpack which is a rather sore to the eyes. But if we look at hm from the back, it actually looks strong and a little majestic. Even with the backpack, Voyager Prime is still a pretty stable robot.

Unlike the Leader Class, the Voyager chest, if a cheat transformation. We all know very well that the chest of Optimus Prime is the windshield of the truck. Well, in Leader Class we can have it for real, but for Voyager, we can only have a mock windshield looking chest that is hidden when he is in truck mode. This is nothing new to transformer toys, and this looks good enough.

The smokestacks can be detached and double as Optimus Prime's gun. Since there are two, he can pose some John Woo style.

Proof this figure is very stable and has a lot of flexibility to pose. Even this sidekick pose is not hard to make.

And this is the Xing-Yi Fist stand, I think I got the left and right inverted, but never mind. Optimus Prime do kung-fu, what is cooler than that?!

I know the ROTF figure will be more movie accurate and a vast improvement over the previous movie's Leader Class. But the reason for the Voyager class to use the same mould is obvious, this is a very good production. For me, it is even better than the first movie's Leader Optimus Prime!
