Review - X-Men Origins : Wolverine (2009)

So now Wolverine, the most popular X-men get his own movie. Hmmm...apart from Hugh Jackman reprise his role and a brief cameo of Patrick Steward as Professor X, other faces are new, even for the guy playing Sabertooth.

Nothing much to say about this film. Although it is a spin-off, but it still has to be consistent with the flashback scenes presented in X-men and X-2. So, somehow it is rather limited what they can do. That is the reason why in this movie Wolverine's memory was not lost right after the experiment, but very much later.

This is because this movie need to explain how he get the cool metal skeleton and how eventually he lost his memory. Plot wise, nothing new and is rather weak, compare to the rich and layered plot presented by Bryan Singer in the first and second X-men films.

We are rewarded by a few glimpse of the popular X-men before they are recruited like Cyclops, Storm, Emma Frost and Gambit to name a few. The Deadpool character created some fuss but at the end is a rather lackluster treatment. It suppose to have a lot of potential and should be a fun anti hero to watch.

Overall, a decent superhero origin movie, but nothing to compare with the original first two X-men movie and certainly way below The Dark Knight.
